Success of the ferry fire pilot in Malaga (Spain) – Video teaser available

04 August 2022

From July 18 to 21, the BroadWay PCP Project for a pan-European broadband mobile system for PPDR organised its third and last pilot with Frequentis consortium as the technical provider: a ferry fire scenario in Malaga (Spain).

After a couple of days of technical set-up and training that involved more than 100 persons, more than 60 practitioners participated in the morning exercise (5 remotely, in supporting locations), representing 20 organisations from all Europe and Malaga/Spain and 6 responder discipline (rescue, police/intervention units, firefighters, border guards, first aid/medical, civil protection).

The same practitioners participated in the afternoon in the evaluation of the exercise itself and the solutions proposed by Frequentis consortium: hot washup, questionnaires, discussions.

Again, the practitioners involvement in our project is crucial to ensure that the developed solutions meet the needs of first responders on the ground.

BroadWay pilots are the final stage of a lengthty process, a joint effort coordinated by Public Safety Communication Europe (PSCE) in tight coordination with technical providers, the 2 consortia led by Airbus and Frequentis. These solutions are then assessed during 3 simulation scenarios by the Practitioner Evaluation Team PEVT led by the Bayerisches Rotes Kreuz (BRK).

You will find the pictures taken by the filming crew here (Frédéric Henriques (www.frederic-henriques.com / https://vimeo.com/frederichenriques) & Ewelina Czuczman (https://ewelinaczuczman.com/)).
A Press Release will be soon published.
A general video on the three pilots will be released after Summer.
